Who We Are & Why
We, Men Progress Club of SC (MPCSC), are a 501c3 non-profit organization located in the Upstate of South Carolina. Our organization is new to the Upstate as of 2021. MPCSC was developed to provide mentorship and coaching to young men (Adolescence to adulthood) throughout the state of SC in the areas of life skills, finances, education, and training.
Our mission is to use the pillar of mentoring to prevent poor choices resulting in fatal consequences and allow young underprivileged males the opportunity of knowing that using good decision making and implementing hard work ethic will eventually give them a better life. In Upstate South Carolina the crime rate has increased significantly among the Black and Latino communities. Many of the crimes are committed between ages of sixteen to twenty-one years of age. These young males are concentrated in low-income areas and the majority come from single parent homes. This is not to discredit a single parent, but not having a family support system with mature males involved to help develop a young male during his young adolescence years could negatively impact cognitive development.

Our mentoring-ship program will give an outlet to allow a young male to express himself without being judged and to teach him how to channel his thoughts and emotions in a positive manner. Some of our children are not under privilege, but they are feeling that no one is listening to how they are feeling, or no one value who they are; leading to teenage depression and most fatal of all teenage suicide. Through Men Progressive Club, we are offering young males' structure, guidance, outlets to be heard, self development by having them understand choices and consequences, financial development, finding their career paths, and mainly how to love themselves.

Our group consists of men of integrity and strong moral values. We all come from different walks of life; we have some commonalities and differences, but we all believe in helping all children have the opportunity of having a happy, healthy, and productive life. Regardless of one's ethnic background and the lack of not having as they grow doesn’t mean that life could not be good, but self-determination and the willingness to learn and self-improvement will give them a better outlook on their lives.
We were developed to show that there are strong role models out there for them to avoid violence and wrong choices. We need to mentor them to have that voice, dress for success and know what success is or could be. With nonprofit programs such as this, it will positively impact young adolescent males and their futures. Focus is age 14 to 19.

Our 12-month 5 step mentoring-ship program will give an outlet to allow a young male to express himself without being judged and to teach him how to channel his thoughts and emotions in a positive manner. Some of our children are not under privilege, but they are feeling that no one is listening to how they are feeling, or no one values who they are; leading to teenage depression, anger issues and most fatal of all teenage suicide.
We will build successful mentoring relationships for the young men in our surrounding communities. To build and promote professional growth, knowledge, and skills to achieve success in life. There are very important tools they should receive, knowledge they should gain and experiences they should have that just are not provided or readily available, specifically, around independent living skills and finances. Today, there are not enough role models and or support for these young boys/men.
Mentors will provide progress and evaluation reports monthly on each mentee. As of right now, the organizations mentors are working closely with District 5 counselors to identify mentees. Plans to extend to other districts within Spartanburg/Greenville every year.
